Language is a funny thing.
It frames everything, but if the wording or definitions are off, it leads us to disaster.
For instance, what’s “right” and what’s “wrong”.
Or what’s a “villain” and what’s a “hero”.
Sometimes our heroes lie, and often villains save lives.
So what’s the truth?
Amateurs tell you, “It’s somewhere in-between”.
Wrong.
Experts tell you what’s effective because even the truth can be useless at times such as the above novice take.
My expert response:
So-called lies and wrongs from villains are more consistent in getting you what you want.
Take one of my new brothers in The League, for example. I gave him an exercise to imagine himself pinned against a formidable opponent to help him grow.
Naturally he crafted a menacing evil character. Yet the opp was so evil, he didn’t want to associate or think of him.
Thus, the foe meant to make him stronger, became a threat that made him cower in fear, whinge in apathy, and almost disgusted with progression.
Totally INEFFECTIVE.
Now… what if we made the opp not evil.
Just tough.
Very tough.
Suddenly the opp is relatable, human, and supportive.
It shades the competition as a rival he wants to spar to sharpen his blade.
Now he can learn something valuable about himself from this once perceived-as-evil creature.
Do you SEE?
In a single moment he changed his language and 10Xd the value of the exercise.
Language matters.
Inside The League we are at WAR. I mean that as no marketing gimmick or over-hyped hyperbole. Nor do I condone terrorist activity.
We are at war with our vices and use ferocious linguistic techniques as one of our many weapons against it.
If you want your words to matter, and want to use expert language to effectively build your best self, then it’s time to join our ranks.
The new year is here.
The new You is inside.
We’re waiting for you brother.
Let’s Thrive,
