I hear this pretty often, and I’m working with a client now on the same subject.
Usually goes like this:
“I’m trying to include a link to something in each email to create a habit for people to get used to clicking on things in my email but could you suggest other ways of getting people to engage as well? For the days I don’t happen to have a link to send them to.”
This is a brilliant question with many answers.
First, glad you’re thinking of the reader (future customer) first. It’s never about you, but helping them to appreciate themselves and the habits they need to develop in your area of expertise.
Next, so many ways to do this without creating new content for them.
- Link to media that echoes what you teach.
- Link to videos on your YouTube page.
- Link to podcast interviews.
- Link to past blog post, videos, interviews, etc… that still apply to them today. (If they haven’t seen it before, it’s “new”.)
- Link to the content your colleagues create.
- Link to books and products on amazon that you use. (BONUS become an amazon affiliate and earn off the sales you make.)
- Link to anything on the Internet that entertains and brightens up your reader’s day.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg, your options are only limited to your imagination.
But sometimes your imagination is just plain ole limited. Well really, your sight is limited. From your point of view, you can’t really see your ears afterall.
Having new perspective can help you create the ultimate link.
The link to your latest product that a mentor, VIP or heavy-hitting influencer can prescribe for you to make.
See on your own, you’re stuck on deciding what to make. You want it to be cool and well-priced so it’ll fly off your digital shelf.
Leave it to your Self and you’ll create a product that you like, but doesn’t really sell.
Leave it to your customer and they’ll ask for something they think they want, but won’t actually pay for. Plus they’ll call ALL the shots and you’ll bend over backwards for them.
Yet you can ask your VIP friend who has no true stake in your career, but plenty of experience in your field earning consistent sales.
S/he will show you how much more value you offer that you haven’t tapped into yet.
They’ll critically show you what more you can teach. How to share it so you’ll actually make a buck. And why it’ll work to grow your business beyond your current mindset’s limitation.
It’s the awesome part of having badasses in your corner who believe in you.
Plus, having their public support means you can pre-sell your product and ethically sell out well before it even exists.
But it’s only possible when you connect with notable leaders and make them your friends.
