The Next Million Dollar Copywriter is…

So many conversations happening around you that include you, but you wouldn’t know it.

Shame no one invited you.

For the past few months, the one that’s caught my attention is what copywriters and business owners keep discussing about the working relationships.

What will copywriter and business owner relationships look like moving forward?

The model of hiring one writer and continually hiring new ones isn’t sustainable. It cost a lot of money, and the time it takes to onboard new talent is better spent on your business.

So what other options do you have.

Billion Dollar Copywriter and Strategist, Brian Kurtz, who is leading this conversation says:

 – Hire someone who becomes a part of your team and immerses in your work so they live, breathe and write about you and only you. Offer them a salary, revenue share and other perks that allow you both to feel safe and committed to the businesses mission. Instead of a freelancer, you have a partner-in-crime for good.

Sounds good to me.

Copy Chief, Kevin Rogers, my mentor, has a unique approach that I like too:

 – He is a Copy Chief that works as the go-between for you and your next best copywriter. Instead of testing out writer after writer, work with Kevin to understand your needs, goals and timeline, then he goes through his extensive catalogue of qualified copywriters and makes the best connection for you. He also onboards them too so really, all you need to do is get to know each other on a personal level and hit play.

Sounds good to me too.

Meanwhile, my approach is a combination of the two, plus a third:

 – I partner with my clients. I don’t even call them “clients” (ewww that word irks me). If we’re on the same team, aiming for the same goal, and genuinely believe in the cause, we’re partners. I’ma a put a ring on it and make it so. It’s also why I only work with few people. I’m polyamorous in business, but I don’t get into bed with just anyone.

 – I’m not the best fit for everyone. Between my personality and my unique “email every day” approach, you may not want my hands near your business. That’s why I qualify interested people by making them join this newsletter to see for themselves if my approach suits them. That said, when appropriate, I connect capable copywriters with inspired leaders.

 – Finally, I run a business. I’m not a freelancer pining for leads. I create products and services that people want to solve their challenges. Then I offer them directly to you every single day. In fact, I can’t create fast enough, which is why I need to hire a team for support.

Good problems to have.

Building a business model around strategic emailing every day gives you freedom to write your own business copy without bloated outside help.

In the end, you can expand your team and invest in your business in on of the two aforementioned ways. But what matters is that the choice is now yours, and not forced on you.

I don’t know who the next Million Dollar Copywriter is. Not sure I care either honestly.

But this isn’t about me, but the industry as a whole and the future of business for a lot of people, which is why I’m tuned in to learn more.

What we learn will make life easier for the next generation of copywriters and business owners.

I’ve been talking with Brian Kurtz and Kevin Rogers about this to see what their experience is like, and what the new model can look like.

The talking period is done for them, and now it’s about testing new ideas that work for both business owners and copywriters.

I’m excited to see how it goes.

My question then is:

What method would you like to work with a copywriter?

Do you like to pay one big fee upfront, or smaller installments?

Maybe salary, royalties, revenue share, equity and bonuses sound better?

Who knows you may have a different option none of us have considered at all.

Or do you prefer to keep copywriters away altogether using my business model?

Share your opinion and experiences so we can solve this challenge together, and possibly find the next million dollar winner.

Be well,
Max!

P.S. I’ll share my sick business model today on Massive Momentum with Kristie Kennedy at Noon EDT.

I’m sure you’ll understand why I’m curious about Brian Kurtz’s conversation, but not “worried”.
