First was the Burglary Method. Second was Friendly Invader. Both will line your digital pockets with coins. But they’re unethical and will position you as a rich fugitive. You’ll have lots of money though and that’s clearly what success is ALL about.
Excited for grimey marketing strategy #3?
What I call:
“The Complaints and BooHoos strategy”.
Play the pity card, which is something we ALL can play. Choose something you dislike or even hate about yourself/life. Now go to Internet and ask for money because of it. Create a Kickstart or craft an email or go to Facebook. All you have to do is complain and demand money to solve your woes.
Don’t have enough money to go to Bonnaroo? Get paid to complain online.
Still haven’t lost all that winter weight? Whine online and collect money for lipo.
Can’t pay your employees and live up to the contracts you’ve already signed? Ask you list to fit the bill for you without providing them services for their donations.
Yup. Yet another grimey technique that actually works for some people (some that I used to call colleagues). All you need to do is give up your dignity, feel sorry for yourself, and do it all in public, so silly people reward your bad behaviour.
Now I don’t recommend you don’t do this. Or any grimey marketing strategy that I can teach you. Instead I recommend you learn how to roll with the punches, connect with your peers in your space, and leverage your unique qualities to attract attention of VIPs that see you as a peer and not just a mentee or customer.
