Sunken submarines at local networking event

Wanna hear something odd?

People who complain the most about not having customers or clients tend to spend the a lot of time doing the wrong things at the wrong places… yet they don’t stop.

Case in point: The networking event.

How many times have you been enjoying yourself mixin’ and minglin’ with colleagues when a desperate mouk comes your way to pitch their business.

It was probably more than one person… maybe the entire crowd.

We could be optimistic and presume they actually earn business based purely on law of averages, but odds are the ROI is a BIG FAT 0.

Why is that?

The majority of them go to networking events to sell, if not all.

Cool.

But no one goes to networking events to buy. Not a single one.

Sellers hanging around in a sellers market make about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

You’ll definitely sink if you follow suit.

I find it bizarre.

Maybe you do too?

Maybe you’re the mouk?

Same thing happens in Internet marketing.

So many leaders spend time selling to non-buyers. They hang in Facebook groups where no one buys, offer endless advice in forums and chats where no one buys, and post endlessly on Twitter… where no one buys.

Selling among sellers to non-buyers is a losers game.

Go where your audience actually is and do what the sellers won’t… don’t sell.

Listen instead.

Pay attention to what they’re feeling. Invite them to join your email list where you help people every day with those same concerns.

Help them solve an immediate, simple concern with your lead magnet series.

Then offer the final, paid solution to their woes around a specific topic you address.

All with email.

Instead of selling sand to desert dwellers, offer your best services to people who are stark-raving mad for what you have.

You know who your customers are.

You know where they are?

Now I can help finetune your message so it resonates with them and they want to join your list, listen to your stories, and overcome their challenges.

When you improve their lives fast, they’ll excitedly evangelize on your behalf to your next enthusiastic customers.

Only 5 spots available for Tuesday.

Be well,
Max!
