Hey {your name},
Do you know a Michael Kitces?
Hope not. Based on his essay on Know Like Trust, he’s not so credible.
Yesterday, while doing research, I stumbled on Kitces, an expert financial advisor who is DEAD wrong about KLT and suggesting “it takes [4 years] time to be known, liked, and trusted.”
He thinks it takes four years before anyone will know, like and trust you enough to do repeat business, share your content and refer people for your services.
Four years!?
More like 4 months.
If you’re not sustainable and profitable in 4 months you need to quit while you’re ahead.
You and I know his advice is not true. We’ve proven this time and time again.
SMXLL
Just this week, Trin Salaloy (MadeFreshly.com) simply copied and pasted one of my copyright free email templates… and LITERALLY overnight… subscribers flooded the inbox.
I guess they’re on the fence about getting to “know” Trin huh?
Last month we highlighted, Fitness Expert, Kalyani Pardeshi (Activmommas.com), who attracted 500 subscribers in her first week, 1000 subscribers in 90 days, 700 of which joined her private coaching program.
I guess that’s just their very generous way of learning to “like” her.
Maybe Kitces needs to hire me, like [Mental Health Expert, Hakeem Rahim](http://hakeemrahim.com/)?
When he had a dead list that was ignored for months, I wrote a single email campaign that hit over 40% open rates and converted them to his new webinar.
He received heartfelt messages from people who desperately needed his support all along. They were so thankful that he finally reached out to share new material.
Do you think they didn’t “trust” him.
I’m not convinced they needed 4 more years.
Listen… if people dealing with tough issues of suicide, depression, bipolar disorder, and have shut out the world open the doors for his material, then your audience will too.
With Kitces approach, those people hungry, angry and isolated, would have had to wait.
Ignored for 4 years, which in their case leads to deadly consequences.
Does that make sense?
I don’t know Michael Kitces, probably will never meet him either.
(Yahoo!)
My point, don’t believe everything you hear and read.
Be skeptical. Think for yourself.
Always look for the demonstration of proof.
How long does it take you to know enough about a new client to help? 4 years?
How long does it take you to like (or dislike) a new dish you’re trying? 4 years?
How long does it take you to trust (or distrust) a new newsletter you signed up for this month (mine for example)? 4 years?
Business is about relationships. Relationships grow deep in 4 years, but it doesn’t TAKE 4 years to determine if you know, like, and trust the people you’re working with.
Your audience won’t wait 4 years. More like 4 minutes, or if you’re lucky, 4 days at most (even if they’re depressed).
Don’t wish and hope and wait for your business to grow organically like a rare orchid that might one day blossom.
No! No! No!
Your life is happening TODAY.
You have too much good you can be doing to empower your audience.
No time to wait for more… time… especially not 4 years.
Do this right now…
Open up your email software and reach out to your audience. Just say “Hi!” to them.
Want people to KLT you, and your business, in 4 days or less:
1 – Write an email regularly (at least once a week).
2 – Keep each message about one specific point of advice.
3 – Talk in the same style you use with your family and friends.
4 – Sell them something valuable that helps them get immediate results.
Simple. No 4 year wait.
Readers will know, like, and trust based on you being yourself. If your product/service is actually good, they’ll more than trust you…
They’ll LOVE you because you solved their problems.
Nothing in business takes 4 years besides your 4-year celebration anniversary.
(And I better get an invite.)
Take it easy today.
Don’t read Kitces or even mention his name.
(Huh? Apparently he has a family. I wonder if it took him 4 years to know like or trust his children?)
Be well,
Max!
