I chilled with fellow Tomcat Lauren this past weekend. It was dope.
Lauren’s from Da Boogie Down Bronx, and I invited her to Downtown Manhattan where I was hanging with friends for the weekend.
When I jam with a Tomcat, it’s not a “business event” (that’s extra).
Instead, for free, we get to know each other and build a meaningful friendship.
Lauren wants more podcasting interviews and media attention, so I decided to take her to a live-taping at the Greene Space for one of my favorite podcast by my friends— FOR COLORED NERDS.
Afterward, I brought her along for an intimate, invite-only, after party with Gimlet Media representatives (named most innovative media (podcast) company in the world), notable podcast showrunners, and magazine writers, all of which others call VIPs, but I call friends.
See business for me (and now Tomcats), is sitting down and DOING the work.
Chilling for us is being around influential people that drive your momentum. You are the sum of the 5 people you hang out with the most afterall.
My role as the “fearless leader” of TOM (as Lauren puts it), is to teach her and our community how to become influential while always introducing them (quite literally) to others already doing it well, and who want to take you for the ride.
Had a lot of fun on our Tomcat adventure.
