Just had to save an overinflated marketer from infecting others with his shallow male marketing “brilliance” (disease).
He tried to convince me “sex sells”. haha
Ever hear that? When you do run the opposite way.
Because:
- Women make up to 80% of consumer consumption globally. This includes when she influences others to buy for her. Major key.
- Women buy and consume for themselves as well as others in their lives, more so than men. Meaning you take care of a woman and she’ll take care of the small village she looks after.
- More women are gainfully employed than men.
- Women have more discerning tastes than men. If you can appeal to a women, you’ll more than accommodate and attract less discerning men too.
- Women are more loyal, they’ll stand by your business even if you make a mistake because they respect who you are, unlike most men who focus on what you do.
None of which has a damn thing to do with sex and sexuality. And if you truly believe “sex sells”, why are they using the wrong tactics like the “male gaze” to attract people.
I can go on too, but I won’t.
See most customers and consumers are women, but the majority of the marketers and sales force are men.
And they don’t know WTF they’re talking about, but I’m wasting my time trying to help them.
Thankfully, I have TOP OF MIND a community where barely a third of us are men (including me), and we don’t fall into the traps of misguided male machismo marketing.
We have NO use for it.
Join now. Introduce yourself, and if you still believe “sex sells” there’s 6 great article in TOM about how to really sell to anyone regardless of their gender and/or sexuality.
