I see an issue where people misunderstand the role of goals.
You notice it when people think about making lots of money. Greedy fools who confuse "Get Rich Fast" for 'Get Rich Easy".
You can make a fortune fast, but it is never easy.
Though this lesson is not about money, but goal-setting in general.
Maybe setting goals is the problem?
People seem to think you 'do' goals.
You want to gain weight, you do weight gain.
You want more money, you make money.
You want girls, you date girls.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Sure that makes sense, but is it the best.
Do any of those things, and you work harder not smarter. You may go on a lot of dates, make some money, gain some weight, either spinning your wheels or getting the result, but losing it shortly after.
Ever have that happen?
You finally get what you wanted, but it slips away within a year or so.
Here's why:
Goals are not a thing you do and eventually have.
Goals are a result of having a foundation for success. They are a symptom of processes, consistency, and the driving force, proper discipline.
From now on see your goals as such.
You do not want the goal anymore. You want the lifestyle that makes the goal inevitable.
The other day, me and a brother got together to talk business. We each want to make a big purchase to the tune of $15K.
But we're wicked smart. We don't plan for $15K. We want $100K to make that price irrelevant. We want $250K so the whole question of making the purchases disappears.
To the layman $15K was the goal. To the take charge man in control of his destiny, the real goal is an asset-producing investment of time, money, and energy that gives us total freedom to spend $15K... just because.
The kind of work that gets people calling us "lucky".
