Failed your NYE Resolution? Great!

Failure is a good thing friend.

If you own it.

According to University of Scranton, Journal of Clinical Psychology, only 8% of people who make New Years Resolutions live up to it.

Odds are against you… or are they.

Reading statistics without context makes it seem like the world is against you… when in most cases they’re in your favor.

Numbers don’t lie, but they can confuse.

So what do these numbers really say?

Well, the average person a) doesn’t know what they want, b) doesn’t have the right drive c) doesn’t have a plan and d) has little to no support and accountability.

When you start on day one with that against you, you’re bound to fall short.

The data speaks for this too, according to the same study, people who defined a specific resolution were 10 times more likely to achieve it.

That’s a simple step to a lasting win.

Let’s get you to that percentile.

Last year I shared my system for achieving goals in shorter periods of time with focused attention.

It’s the same system I use with my Strategy Sessions.

If you failed your New Years resolution, Great.

Own it. Leave it where it lies.

In fact, no more use of the word “resolution”. We’ll say “goal” because that’s all this is, being active with goal setting and most important, goal achieving.

Let’s start fresh with an awesome Plan A that WILL work and you’ll want to repeat and share.

Here it is again:

1 – Choose a general pursuit. 3 words or less describing what you want. You have permission to be a bit vague. “Generate revenue” “Build my list” “Define target market”

2 – Describe your platform. What’s the engine to support this major vision (it can be more than one thing). Be specific. “Earn $30K with course sales” “Using FB ads earn 1K new readers” “Hire a business coach to define my target market for me”

3 – Establish bi-weekly mini-goals. Here, 14 days is a healthy increment to focus on three strategies that combine to help you reach a specific mini-goal. For example, every day I’ll update my FB ads to make sure I’m converting at least 100 new readers to my list, in 14 days I’ll have 1 to 1.4K.

Guiding principle – Measure only what’s relevant. There are so many metrics, but the only ones that matter are what move the needle towards your specific focus at any given stage in your process.

It’s that simple.

The more specific 2 and 3 are, the more granular and bite-sized, the easier it is to complete. You’re more excited to start and commit and complete them in 14 days.

Each step, your small wins compound until you reach your ultimate goal.
That’s how you become a successful statistic.

Or we can partner together to do this in real time with my ensured accountability.

Be well,
Max!
