Bestselling novelist’s secret to taking his books to Hollywood

Had the chance to talk with Colm Toíbon when he visited my childhood hometown this summer.

He’s the award-winning, serial bestselling novelist behind the hit movie BROOKLYN from last year.

I didn’t know who he was, but I got to watch his movie BROOKLYN, and witness his writing approach to his many books.

Since I’m not a fan I had an outside perspective about his work that I challenged him on in conversation.

I asked him: how he crafts such vivid detail about people that he clearly does not know. Like all the female characters he wasn’t related to or are from generations waaay past.

His answer was awesome, and exactly what you’d expect from a man who has mastered his own style in his craft.

I wish people in business online could have heard his response too.

It’d help them stop skipping over this one simple step when telling stories.

The advice: counterintuitive.

Can’t be helped, ya gotta zig when others zag to have unique results they won’t reach (like having your book turned into a movie).

It’s advice that forces you to do something your business coach forbids.

However, you can try it in your next email and see how much fun it is, and how powerful the impact is too. Don’t like it, test it another way or stop altogether.

Finally, it applies to any space where you face people with your words and likeness.

(First dates. Speaking engagements. Business meetings. Webinars. FB Live.)

With this one method, you’re covered.

Access to the practical, counterintuitive, taboo lesson is here, if you sign up before Friday at Midnight ET:

That’s when it goes to the printer and ships worldwide.

Be well,

Max!
