I’m a fanboy of Copy Chief, Kevin Rogers. At this point, it’d be hard to stop liking what he does with his leadership. Grateful to call him mentor (even friend).
Recently, he aired episode 75 of the Truth About Marketing podcast (one of three shows he hosts) with special guest Doberman Dan.
Safe to say, he’s well known in his copy space because of all he does in his tenured career. Hence, why he invited copywriter, Doberman Dan to talk about his marketing career and why he’s been so successful.
What I LOVE about this episodes is that they spend about 20 minutes (of a 40-minute episode) talking about police brutality in the United States, and how it relates to being a smart marketer.
I had to tell Kevin and his 1000-member Copy Chief community about how important it is to see white men talking publicly about issues that affect us all.
What Kevin proved was that white people can talk about social justice without alienating their audience or feeling scared to broach the subject.
Kevin is so cool he didn’t even realize he was doing it as it happened. I had to point out he was doing THE WORK all allies for global justice can and need to be doing.
That’s how easy this all is.
In fact in his 20 minutes of talking police brutality he used the 14 techniques I mention in TOP OF MIND’s latest issue.
So citing his example, I break down how the episode applies to developing your marketing.
No one else is talking about this stuff in a non-threatening way that actually engages people to shift the paradigm.
If you can be that person, you immediately attract everyone’s full attention.
Best part it applies to more than just race, including any topic dear to your heart. So you can build your influence, be highly paid, and support the values important to you.
But only if you learn how to do it correctly without sound judgemental, obnoxious, or insane like Donald Trump.
