I used to be in a cult.
My whole family was about 20 years ago.
Cults are awesome by the way.
The food is amazing because the group’s diversity is so wide that people hail from all over the world and bring their wonderful culinary dishes with them.
The diversity also means you’ll meet and learn from people with vastly different lives than you can ever imagine. So you’re constantly learning from unique perspectives.
All the while, you’re mingling over the same topic that brought you together.
Each cult is different, but those first months (or year) are about You.
Listening to you and offering you a helping hand.
An A-1 cult will go as far as buying you a space heater if you’re cold, watching your children if you need a babysitter, and buying you groceries if you’re hungry.
Yeah being a fresh immigrant family on our own, in NY was fun with a cult next door. We were fortunate to have met them, and avoid any Kool-Aid ritual they had planned.
Oh those Moonies of The Unification Church. Such memorable times.
Thing is cults get a bad wrap because most people don’t understand them… and the leaders are typically misogynistic pricks who only want to sleep with teen girls.
OK, so cults aren’t entirely awesome.
I don’t condone cult leaders and those despicable actions.
That said, the way they galvanize a community and earn trust is powerful.
We can learn a lot from that by itself.
Start by considering…
… What consistent message are you sending in your daily email messages (you do email daily right?) that lets them know you’re on their side.
A sentiment that’s spoken, or mostly unspoken and still understood. It’s that message that helps them overcome their daily challenges.
When you’re emailing daily it’s easy to make that sentiment clear. A reader hears your story, and the testimonials of others like them, and immediately click your link to learn more.
It’s a beautiful way to help people.
So you have a 3-way choice.
1 – Call me this April to help you directly find that core message and the ways to tell it 260 workdays a year.
OR
2 – Take my 10-Day challenge to see for yourself how daily emails helps your readers in a sustainable way. (Free for a limited time this March.)
OR
3 – The least you can always do is nothing.
Sounds uneventful, but true, and it’s you’re complete right to exercise.
Thing is, if you can read this, I know you want to do something assertive.
So 1 and 2 are your REAL first step.
Be well,
Max!
