I remember the first time I bought out the bar.
Fantastic time in my life. I moved to NYC a few months prior, lead of sales at a tech startup, producing for a YouTube Partner channel (which is still thriving today), and a cute girl on my arm.
So to celebrate my birthday with my mates, I booked SPIN, Susan Sarandon’s ping-pong club in Flatiron.
Think Night Club meets Ping Pong. DJ, dancing, drinks, plus cute girls playing pong.
We all dressed to impress, ate delicious foods, drank nice cocktails, and played pong.
Mad fun. I think I was 23 at the time.
I wanted to stunt so I did.
I remember I used my connect to make it all happen. Told him I wanted to buy out the bar for the night. He stopped and gave me a better idea. Something so simple and more affordable, but a hip-hop head like me would probably never know.
Something only event hosting insiders would know or maybe professionals of the club life, which I wasn’t at the time.
It’s something I have not forgotten, and I still use in my event hosting today.
I bring this up because we often use the wrong examples to guide our steps.
If I acted like a rapper that night, I would have broke the bank.
Instead I had to act like the rapper’s financial manager to get the same effect with no debt.
So where in your life are you following the wrong example?
An example that makes you work harder and leaves you in a hole.
Because I followed the right example, I got to spend my 30s operating like most 20 year-olds. Meaning the best of both worlds. Wisdom of successful experience plus fun energy of a dangerous young man with the cashflow to make extra wild.
Making young folks look bad is a lifehack, it’s basically child abuse so be careful with it.
I give you this warning before you apply the lessons waiting for you inside TAKE CHARGE.
Inside is where you master the art of having unlimited energy of a young man, while having the control of a seasoned tactician.
Chapters 2 and 4 alone will have you living your best life even if you never had those fun experiences you wanted but couldn’t have when you were younger.
