Every job I ever had came from my network. Producing TV news for NY1. Logistics Management for Google. Pitch TV pilots for SONY PICTURES TV. Running a hookah bar. Leading a sales team. Sous chef at a fine-dining restaurant. Writing tweets for busy entrepreneurs. ETC. It was always, I knew someone and skipped the line and official hiring process. In some cases, I was not qualified or had a resume, which happens more than you think. That’s how it goes most times. You have unqualified people running the show because they know the right person. That’s the point of having a network. Only difference with you is you qualify for the opportunities you want. You walk through walls without needing to stress over the rules. Opportunities people work their whole lives to get are given to you simply because you know the guy who owns the place, or your best friend plays tennis with a VIP. Thing is you can’t have a high-net-worth network, unless you bring value to the table. People only make introductions if you when you make them money, make them look good, and/or make their life easier in some way. Do you know how to make people money? Do you know how to make them look good to their peers and idols? Do you know how to save them time so they have less stress? When you can answer those 3 questions, you will have the power to build your network as fast as a cheetah hunting. Right now you know someone who knows someone who can change your life. Make moves so your network wants to introduce you to them. As you go along, make sure you pay attention to add people to your network so you pay it forward.
